According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the recession ended in June 2009. However, small businesses have continued to face credit difficulties in this challenging economic climate. But aside from lending concerns, small businesses are uncertain about the overall macroeconomy, reflected in business owners’ hesitation to hire new workers, expand businesses, or invest in new capital and equipment. This panel will explore the overall health of the small business industry as it relates to the Tri-State area and what upswings and downturns you can expect in the coming year.

Jorge P. Silva-Puras, Regional Administrator, NY, NJ, PR & USVI, Small Business Administration

Every business owner needs the right tools to have their business run smoother. However, what’s in your technology arsenal is as important as how you use it. The key is knowing what's available to help you increase your sales and marketing, manage your projects and of course, run the business.

Budgets are tight but most often, not acquiring the right tech for your business has to do with not knowing that a product exists that can help you do your job more efficiently. This session will present a number of free to low-cost tech tools and apps for your business such as website analytics tools, content marketing platforms, online document and calendar sharing, web-based email and how to effectively use video platforms, all designed to help you gain a competitive edge.

HPNG Entrepreneurs Conference - A Message From NYC's Mayor Bloomberg

Dear Colleague:

You are invited to the HPNG Entrepreneurs Conference in New York on October 3rd.

And now, A Message From New York City's Mayor Bloomberg:

Dear Friends:

It is a great pleasure to join the New York City Latin Media and Entertainment Commission in celebrating the Second Annual Latin Media and Entertainment Week.

Our City thrives as an international capital of Latin business, art, and culture. More than two million of our City’s residents are Hispanic or Latino, and New York is home to the most Hispanic-owned businesses of any American city. Since 2003, the LMEC has worked especially hard to promote and strengthen the media companies that serve our Latin American communities as they grow even more prosperous.

This week’s events offer a terrific chance to network and discuss the latest developments in the business of Latin media and entertainment. LMEC has partnered with HPNG Entrepreneurs to present the HPNG Entrepreneurs Conference and help small businesses grow. LatinVision, in association with Interactive Advertising Bureau and LMEC, is presenting its CEOs Summit to demonstrate how businesses can contribute to and benefit from the future of Latin media. Finally, on Friday, Incisive Media will present Search Engine Strategies Latino, an expert panel on how to reach increasingly influential Hispanic and Latino consumers online.

Once again, Latin Media and Entertainment Week is an outstanding showcase of everything the LMEC and our partners in the private sector are doing to ensure that New York continues to set the pace for the Latin media and entertainment industry in the United States. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I offer my best wishes for an enjoyable and productive week here in the world’s greatest city.

Michael R. Bloomberg

I look forward to seeing you there!
